National School Walkout

The devastating school shooting in Florida has impacted our nation in unprecedented ways, as students are taking leadership roles, speaking up, and advocating for change. On Wednesday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m., students, teachers, parents, and community members are invited to participate in National School Walkout Day. It is designed as a controlled show of support and honor the victims of all school shootings, and a plea to make changes so ALL of our schools are safe. As you know, we have a very safe campus at OTA, but other schools are not as fortunate. Our 4th through 8th grade students have the opportunity and choice to proudly join others across the nation in support of safe schools, in a controlled, respectful, and positive manner. We will hold up signs and posters on the sidewalk in front of the school for 17 minutes, in honor of the 17 lives lost on February 14 at Stoneman Douglas High School. OTA 4th-8th grade students, staff and parents can choose to participate or not, and all views, beliefs, and opinions will be respected. Please contact Mr. C if you have any questions or concerns.
