Happy Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, today’s morning assembly included two of our friends from the Aspire Center. Nick Horin served in the Army, with two back to back tours in the Iraq War, with the 101st Airborne Division. He was also a first responder at the Twin Towers on 9/11 as a teenager. Adrian Murrieta served in the Marines, and was in three combat tours, including Iraq, Ramadi, and Fallujah. His grandfather, who fought in World War II, motivated him to join the military and serve his country. We appreciate and honor these, and all veterans, throughout the year. But especially this weekend. Please remember there is no school on Friday, November 10.

And don’t forget about Parent Conferences Wednesday, November 15 to Friday, November 17. All three days are minimum days with a 12:00 dismissal.

What Do I Do About High School?

As a K-8 school, one of the most frequent questions we are asked by parents is, “What do I do about high school?” There are many options out there, and we have been working hard to streamline things and make it easier for parents. At our Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, November 15, we will be discussing “where we are” and “where we are going” in regards to OTA students transitioning to high school. This is also an opportunity for parents to give input and suggestions. We will meet in the middle school math room at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will conclude in time for the OTA Board of Directors meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the middle school English/language arts room.
