I really want to highlight this event, not only because I am a total nerd who is always reading, but because this event was a sort of Field of Dreams moment. This year we built an entire field of Volunteer Opportunities, some large and some small, some with structure and some with little direction at all. But a small group of parents raised their hands and said, we love books too and a few weeks later, they came with an ask, “Can we have a Book Fair?”. We said yes. They ran with the plan. We worked together to iron out logistics and this small group made it happen virtually overnight! I say all that to share, we are open to your ideas, we celebrate your passions and we want to help you realize the vision you have for your child's school!
On campus volunteer opportunities are widely available at this point. We have offered over 154 hrs of on-campus opportunities so far this year and our friends and families and students have taken advantage of 89 of those hours. This is only counting the posted SignUpGenius opportunities. It by no means captures the countless behind the scenes hours put in by our JogAThon Chair, numerous committees, Board and Foundation Council. If you are interested in volunteering on campus, please reach out. We will find a spot for you! There is plenty to go around. Calling all Middle Schoolers - we have plenty of volunteer opportunities for you too! Don’t wait till the last minute to get your hours in. We need your support!
Upcoming events are all linked for your convenience, but I do want to draw your attention to the SignUp slots available for each! Any event should have a SignUp to Volunteer link that you can click on to, well, sign up to volunteer. But we will highlight a few here every week for items that are really in need.
- Volunteers are needed to help monitor pick up each morning.
- Volunteers are needed to help monitor playground and lunch areas each day.
- New Community Event Opportunities - Great for Middle Schoolers - All grades welcome.
Our full list of volunteer opportunities is published here.
The Foundation meeting is next week. Oct 3. Come out for Coffee with the Principal and the Foundation meeting. We are looking for you! There are still open slots in the Foundation Council and we need all the help we can get. Come out and help us shape the future of OTA. We have a lot of open positions and a lot of terms that are up this year. If you are interested, now is the time to come in and shadow and learn. Dad’s I am going to keep calling you out. We need more representation from you. Come join us!
Enjoy the weekend! Hats off to an amazing September!
